Full Moon in Leo: Creating for Self-Reflection, Not to Be Seen
We have a Full Moon in Leo coming up on February 1st. You may start to feel the power of this majestic moon as early as Saturday. I am feeling the energy of this moon today, and I just had the most beautiful experience gaining clarity on my creative process. It feels like the perfect reflection for this Full Moon energy.
For so long, I have felt this pressure to focus on the end product. I would catch myself thinking, What is this going to mean about me? Will this get me seen? I hope people like it... Honestly, that has been the driver for so long—creating to be seen.
But I woke up to something profound this morning: The creative process isn't about being seen by others; it is about seeing myself.
Leo rules my 12th house, so this is my personal experience. You might have Leo in your 10th house (or elsewhere), so your experience could feel very different. But regardless of where Leo sits in your chart, I felt like this insight was important to share.
There is so much noise right now—the trance of social media, the pressure of content creation—telling us we must produce for an audience. But I’m realizing that doesn't work for me at all. Based on my Human Design, I am not meant to create for the sake of visibility. I am meant to create to experience passion and joy. I am meant to create to experience the world around me.
Shine a Light on Others
It’s interesting because with the Full Moon in Leo (and my own Mercury in Leo), there is that natural part of me and honestly all of us that wants to be seen. But I’m learning that Leo energy isn't just about the stage or the applause. It’s also about shining a light on others.
I realized that through my creative process, I am supposed to shine a light on the spiritual—on who we really are, on the plants, the stars, and the living wisdom of the earth. To speak on their behalf.
Finding Pleasure in the Process
I’ve been reconnecting with the pure joy of the creative process thanks to my daughter. She reminded me how much I love to paint. We started doing collaborative art together, pulling out my old art—mostly painted backgrounds I never used. That is how it used to be for me: I created art to learn about myself. To emotionally check-in. It was a mirror.
Somewhere along the way, I lost sight of that. I started thinking I needed to create things that "gave value" to others. But waking up to the collaboration of painting with my daughter brought the joy back.
I love creating with my kids! However, with us all having autism it presents some challenges. We all want to control how others are creating and the chaos that comes from my 4 year old when she is painting sends my autism through the roof!
I am in the process of creating environments that facilitate connection through creativity without overstimulating each other. It is definitely a task, since our sensory needs are so different. Living a creative life is one of my core values, so I am determined to find something that works for all of us.
The Inner Lioness
I had this visualization today of a lioness. I saw her outline in the texture of the granite—she was roaring, and she was beautiful. But she wasn't in my face. She wasn't performing. She was just there, roaring, beautifully protective of her cubs and in touch with her power.
That is what Leo means to me now: being so deeply in touch with the creative process that you don't need the external gaze to validate it.
So, for this Full Moon in Leo, I am setting the intention to stop creating to be seen. Instead, I am creating to see myself. I am creating to find the pleasure and the living wisdom that is waiting to be found in its chaotic process.
