This pillar explores somatic movement, sound and vibrational practice, and the body's energy field as three interconnected ritual tools for shifting how you feel. Coming soonFrequently Asked Questions
What is the aura?
The aura is a term for the subtle energy field traditionally understood to surround the body, often described in layers connected to physical, emotional, and mental states. You don't need to see it to work with the idea, many people use aura practices simply as a framework for noticing how they feel and clearing a sense of heaviness or overwhelm.
What is sound healing?
Sound healing is the practice of using vibration, from singing bowls, chanting, or specific frequencies, to shift how the body and mind feel. Vibration is something the nervous system responds to directly, which is part of why a sustained tone or hum can create a felt sense of calm, even without any belief system attached to it.
What is somatic movement?
Somatic movement is movement done with attention on the internal experience of the body rather than on appearance or performance, things like stretching, swaying, or shaking with awareness of what it feels like from the inside. It's less about exercise and more about giving the body a chance to process and release tension through motion.
Is energy work backed by science?
Some elements, like the calming effect of touch, sound, and movement on the nervous system, are well documented in research. Other elements, like the aura as a literal measurable field, are more traditional or experiential concepts without the same scientific backing. It's worth treating energy work as a genuinely useful practice while keeping an open mind about which parts are supported by research and which are traditional frameworks.
What is TRE or therapeutic tremoring?
TRE, or Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises, is a practice that uses gentle shaking or tremoring to help the body release stored physical tension, based on the idea that the nervous system naturally discharges stress this way. It's a structured, intentional version of a response the body already knows how to do on its own.
Do I need musical or movement experience to start these practices?
No. Practices like humming, gentle swaying, or a short walk with attention require no training or special skill to begin, and simplicity is actually the point. You can build toward more structured practices, like Qi Gong or singing bowl work, once a simple version feels familiar.
