New Moon in Aries: Plant Your Seeds, Ignite Your Fire

New Moon in Aries: Plant Your Seeds, Ignite Your Fire

April 13, 2026

There is a moment in spring when you can almost feel the earth deciding to begin again.

A seed, held in the dark all winter, finds the exact right pressure — and cracks, not from force, but from readiness. That cracking open, that first brave push of green through soil — that is Aries energy. And on April 17, 2026, the New Moon arrives at 27 degrees of Aries, bringing all of that with it.

This is the first New Moon of the astrological new year, happening in the very first sign of the zodiac — and that means this lunation carries an extra charge. This is a portal for genuine new beginnings, the kind that have roots.

If something has been stirring in you — a project, a desire, a new way of being that hasn't quite found its form yet — this is the moon to start planting those seeds.

The Energy of This New Moon

Aries is ruled by Mars, the planet of action, drive, and the living fire within the body. New Moons in Aries always carry a quality of fresh starts and courageous first steps. But this one has layers.

Sitting closely alongside Chiron — the wounded healer of the zodiac — this New Moon also opens a healing portal. It is inviting us to look honestly at where we have dimmed our own flame. Where we stopped initiating. Where old wounds talked us out of being bold.

There is also a rare stellium in Aries right now — Mercury, Saturn, Neptune, Chiron, Sun, Moon and Mars, all gathered in the same sign. Seven cosmic bodies in a fire sign at once. That is an extraordinary amount of activation energy available to us. The invitation is to channel it rather than be swept away by it — to give the fire a container, a direction, a ritual.

Your Herbal Ally: Nettle

When I think about the herb that most perfectly embodies Aries season, I come back to nettle every time.

Nettle is a Mars plant through and through — you know it from its sting, that sharp, hot, unmistakably alive sensation. Nettle doesn't apologize for taking up space. And neither does Aries.

But here is what I love most about working with nettle during Aries season: it teaches us the other side of Mars. Not just the heat and the charge, but the nourishment that makes sustained fire possible. Nettle builds the blood. It is deeply mineral-rich, high in iron — and Aries rules the blood, the adrenals, and the HPA axis, the system that helps regulate cortisol and stress response.

When Aries energy gets hot and ungrounded — when the "hot-headedness" arrives — nettle helps cool excess heat and replenish what the fire burns through. It cleanses the blood and rebuilds it simultaneously. It is strength from the inside out, not force. That distinction matters.

How to work with nettle at this New Moon:

  • Brew a strong nettle infusion ( an ounce of dried leaf steeped for 4–8 hours in a pint of hot water), then strain and drink it as a morning ritual or throughout the day.
  • Add dried nettle to a charm bag, or sprinkle it at your altar with the intention of courage, renewal, and stamina
  • Sip nettle tea before or during your candle ritual to anchor your fire in your body, not just your mind

Your Stone: Carnelian

If nettle builds the fire from the inside, carnelian ignites it on the outside.

This warm, orange-red stone is one of the most aligned crystals you can work with during an Aries New Moon. Its energy is activating, creatively alive, and specifically attuned to the belly — the solar plexus, the seat of confidence and creative initiation.

Carnelian doesn't just hold your intention. It moves it. It brings that fire into your hands and your body. Hold it during your candle meditation. Place it on your altar with a written intention for what you are calling in. Let it remind you: creation is not a mental act. It is embodied action.

Aromatic Medicine: Dragon's Blood

For aromatic medicine at this New Moon, it would have to be dragon's blood resin.

I want to tell you something from personal experience: the first time I burned dragon's blood during the day, I was genuinely surprised by what happened in my body. A wave of "get it done" energy moved through me — it was very real and noticeable. It wasn't frantic. It was focused. I attacked my day!

Dragon's blood has been used across cultures for centuries in rituals of protection, purification, and activation. It calls on the element of fire through the act of burning itself — the ritual of lighting it is part of the medicine. It clears what is stale and amplifies intention, making it one of the most powerful aromatic allies for a fire-sign New Moon.

A few things to know:

  • Burn dragon's blood during the day — its energy is activating and upward-moving, not conducive to sleep
  • Use it to open your ritual space, clear old energetic residue, and signal to your body that something new is being initiated
  • Let the smoke move through your space before you sit with your candle, your journal, or your bath

Note: Use incense in a well-ventilated space. Those with respiratory sensitivities should exercise caution with smoke-based rituals.

The Candle Meditation: Connect with Fire

This is the ritual I most want to offer you for this New Moon.

Aries and fire have a direct conversation that bypasses the analytical mind and speaks straight to the soul. A candle meditation is one of the simplest and most potent ways to connect with fire element healing — and under this Aries New Moon, it carries real medicine.

A simple ritual:

1. Light your dragon's blood incense to clear and open the space

2. Place your carnelian in front of a candle — choose red, orange, or gold if you have it

3. Sit with your spine upright and soft, hands resting open on your thighs

4. Gaze softly at the flame — not staring, just resting your attention there

5. Ask the fire: "What in me wants to be ignited? What seed is ready to crack?"

6. Breathe slowly and let whatever arises move through you without judgment

7. When you feel complete, write down one courageous thing you are choosing to begin

This doesn't need to be long. Even ten minutes of genuine presence with fire will change something.

Deepen Your Ritual with Living Wisdom

For those who want to extend the fire element ritual into the body — into the full sensory, somatic experience — we have two products that were made for exactly this moment.

Heart Coherence Somatic Bath Soak brings rose, hibiscus, cacao, ylang ylang, sweet orange, and vanilla into your ritual bath. It is a self-love soak — formulated for emotional processing and heart opening. After a candle meditation where you've asked fire what wants to be ignited, a Heart Coherence bath is the place to let those answers settle into your body, not just your mind.

Infinite Fire Anointing Oil is what you reach for when you are ready to seal your intention with passion. I use it to open my heart to new possibilities — and also to discover and process what dimmed the light of passion within me. Sometimes the New Moon work is about planting something brand new. Sometimes it is about remembering who you were before someone told you to be less. Infinite Fire holds space for both.

Anoint your heart, your wrists, and your solar plexus after your bath. Feel the warmth land and let your body remember what it feels like to be alive to possibility.

Here's to Feeling Alive Again

The Aries New Moon doesn't ask you to have it all figured out. It asks you to begin.

That first push through the soil doesn't know what it's becoming yet. It only knows the direction: up, toward light, toward becoming. That is the message of Aries. That is the medicine of fire.

You don't have to be fearless. You just have to move.

Happy New Moon!
